whisky's for when I'm with southern boys
with honey tongues
and sea lungs,
tan but charming.
tequila's for my Mexican friends
who squirt my eye like limes
and leave me,
on to come back again.
vodka's for my Midwestern men
pale and flavorless
they blend in
to anything.
absinthe's for the alcoholic who calls me
his green wing fairy, but takes it back
as soon as morning starts
and the night ends.
